The wailing and gnashing of teeth has surely reached a crescendo, as parasitic organizations across the land bemoan being summarily evicted from one of their most generous hosts - the infamous Liberally-supported Court Challenges Program. (Having lawyers choose to promote a stereotype of themselves by joining the chorus is a bonus - the pot must have been richer than I thought...)
As REAL Women of Canada put it in a recent press release:
This Program was supposedly established to fund "disadvantaged" groups, but instead, it has constantly funded only left of centre organizations and by way of this abuse of the taxpayers money has carried out social restructuring by way of the courts. The promotion of social changes by way of judicial fiat funded by the Court Challenges Program has resulted in the bypassing of the democratic process of public debate in Parliament. In fact the Court Challenges Program was a profoundly undemocratic use of taxpayers money to restructure society, with the public being deprived of having any input in these changes. The elimination of the Court Challenges Program will go a long way to promoting democracy in Canada. [source]Took the words right outta my mouth. (And kudos to Gwen Landolt - this one's for you - you've certainly earned it.)

"...full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
Macbeth, right? I love that line. You could apply it to the Liberal leadership debate too. ;)
Yep on both counts - that soliloquy is one of the few I actually memorized in high school - and it's proved most useful, on multiple occasions!
I admire REAL Women. Wish I could be one!
Gwen is an amazing woman! So glad you give her credit. She has been informing us for years about the Liberal 'hidden agenda' I'm so glad she never gave up.
All these years that this stuff was being pushed through the courts, how many of us even realized there was such a program and that we were helping to fund it?
It needed to be gone. Causes with merit will find their funding outside of government.
