Do you recognize this man?

Hopefully, you soon will. His name is Pierre Lemieux, and he is the CPC candidate for the riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, just outside of Ottawa, a seat currently held by the now-officially-retired Don Boudria.

As luck would have it though, Pierre happens to share a name with another Pierre Lemieux who is quite well-known in conservative circles - this latter Pierre being an economist and author with a well-established web presence, whose articles appear frequently in the Western Standard, Financial Post and National Post. Pierre-the-CPC-Candidate now holds the domain www.pierrelemieux.ca while Pierre-the-Economist holds both the .org and .com extensions of same. So, if you Google the name 'Pierre Lemieux,' as I did, Pierre-the-CPC-Candidate will, as of today, show up in 8th position on the results, page, while if you Dogpile it, he shows up in 17th - right after 15 links to Pierre-the-Economist, and one link to Peter Lemieux of Arkansas (apparently deceased). Now, under ordinary circumstances, this would not pose any particular problem - but for the next few weeks, I thought it would be kinda nice if Pierre-the-CPC-Candidate could move up a bit in the page rankings. (I like to think that Pierre-the-Economist wouldn't mind.) Since Google's PageRanking Technology is heavily weighted in favour of links to a given URL, I would like to help Pierre-the-CPC-Candidate's potential supporters to easily find him by asking you to post his site's URL somewhere on your page:

As you may have noticed, from the link in my sidebar, I heartily endorse Pierre Lemieux's candidacy. I have known Pierre and his family for several years now, and was absolutely delighted when he decided to throw his hat into the ring. Pierre truly defines honesty and integrity, and is savvy, hard-working, and in touch with his constituents' concerns.

Running against Pierre is local mortician and long-time president of the local Liberal riding association, René Berthiaume. Mr. Betheiaume also spent 25 years working as a paramedic and was co-owner of another family-owned business - an ambulance service. (Talk about vertical integration...) His family even has "a quirky, yet poignant" infommercial I mean, documentary, airing tonite (a mere coincidence, I'm sure) on CBC:
In their rambling, Victorian funeral home with the same fading photographs, oak staircase and mock-velvet wallpaper the boys grew up with, the Berthiaume's believe in tradition. But don't be fooled by their brown limousines and matching brown suits. These morticians are anything but conservative. The entire family is featured in a music video for René's daughter, a stunning young singer who used the funeral home as a backdrop and her uncles as pallbearing extras.
Berthiaume also appears to suffer from a bit of an online identity crisis, as I discovered. Should someone tell him? Nah - his doppelganger is kinda cute, don't you think?
